This old boat moored to a post with a pulley used to sit in the most idyllic little corner of Bronte Harbour – this was painted just as it was finally relocated a little down the way.

I began the application of the gold onto this work at the start of the corona virus quarantine when my beloved black cat Jynx was still here – it reminds me of her eyes which always glowed like an imagined yellow moon.
Since then she has sadly after 10 lovely years as my familiar & companion, passed.
I added the black – deep as her fur and just as matte and velvety against the gold – of the india ink in January of 2021.

There is a kind of mushroom spore that shines the brightest neon orange, like a fisherman’s artificial fish eggs, on the stump along 12 mile creek.
~ topiary dream scape ~ pastural tones
I was walking through a garden of hedge plants, down a row that seemed to flank a the edge of a topiary maze. It was daytime in the summer, the grass was impossibly green, vivid as if it were a synthetic colour like in a video game.
I kept walking forwards towards what at first appeared to be a great hill – surrounded by white hoodoos standing slender and white all around it – the hill as I got closer seemed to have an opening. There were people standing outside the entrance, waiting in line to go inside.
I asked myself where I was, and a phantom voice answered “this is Saint Toffee” and I had a sense that there was a Deity inside the topiary temple. I wandered around for longer in the green splendour, before the dream began to end.
